We launched the tinyhomeromania.ro website for some time and we set out to share with you the process we go through in building a mobile home / tiny house.
Now that we have opened the blog section, we will regularly post about the wonderful experience of living, traveling or building a tiny house.
If you are already here, it means that you are watching or you are interested in the tiny house movement. But if it's the first time you've heard (read) about this concept, it's still okay. You are in the right place.
We want to create in Romania a community of people passionate about tiny houses and a sustainable way of life. But we know we still have a lot of work to do until we get there.
On our instagram page @ tinyhomeromania.ro we asked for suggestions on what topics to address that would be helpful. We have received a series of questions and suggestions that we would like to share with you and try to answer.
Content type 'How it's made'
During the construction period we set out to film step by step everything we do and share here. So if you want to build your own tiny house, keep following our blog.
I also created a channel Youtube - Tiny H ome Romania where we will post the longer videos with the step by step constructions, and on our page of Facebook - Tiny Home Romania we will post behind the scenes, tips and news.
What are the costs of a tiny home?
The prices of a tiny home differ a lot depending on:
- the chosen finishes,
- general dimensions,
- degree of mobility,
- type of utilities - on grid / off grid
- materials used
But indicatively, the prices for a tiny home 100% mobile, start from 20,000 EURO and can exceed 50,000 - 60,000 EURO.
The easiest way to find out the costs of a mobile home is to follow the steps in the infographic below or you can fill in the form directly. here.

What are the dimensions of a tiny home?
The general rule for a tiny house to be mobile is not to exceed the height of 4 m outside (including the transport trailer) and the width of 2.55 m. The maximum weight is 3500 kg for a mobile house, so that it can transports with driving category B + E
The first tiny house we will build here at Tiny Home Romania is a showhome model. We will try to make the largest and smart tiny house with maximum dimensions of 9 mx 3.25 mx 2.55 m, respecting the legal limits of size and weight.
This project will be a test because all the materials used must be chosen carefully to be flexible, light and durable - so that we fit a maximum of 3500 kg. This weight must include a specialized tiny house transport trailer that exceeds 750 kg.
At these dimensions, the mobile home will be able to accommodate up to 6 people in 2 bedrooms, a living room with sofa bed, kitchen and fully equipped bathroom.
What are the on-grid / off-grid options?
We will go into details about all the options for connecting to utilities for a mobile home in the future, but now I wanted to briefly explain the differences between off-grid and on-grid systems:
- Tiny home off-grid systems - you could place the house in the woods but have access to electricity from renewable sources such as solar panels, drinking water collected from the rain and filtered and sewer tanks (black and gray water)
- Tiny home on-grid systems - the location where you place the box has access to all utilities by connecting to the network, so it should be closer to the city.
For the first design, we will work on a hybrid system that allows you to have an off-grid mobile home for 2-3 days, but also on-grid to connect to the network if you want to live or want to move it.
About that for the moment from your questions and suggestions, but in the next article we will discuss more about the differences between the types of mobile homes.
If you want to write in the blog about something specific, leave us your suggestions in the comments or on the email address tinyhomeromania@gmail.com
